Casinos - Are any of us truly winners?

I have to admit, my first time going to a casino was exciting, the music, the sounds of the various slots, the atmosphere, the vibe, the people and the settings, it was just a new kind of fun. That first day, the rush that many of their customers get when they play a slot or a table game or even roulette, and they win, on their very first visit. Whether it’s double their bet or ten times their bet, that first day is the day that makes some of us feel like we’re able to win, like it’s easy and we can do it. Then the customers decide to go back another time and some of them either win a little again, and some of them lose what they won and then some. This is where the problem starts if we don’t have some form of control. The need to win and regain what was lost the previous day or sometimes earlier that same day, is rapidly becoming a top priority. Some customers think that upping their bets and playing multiple machines hoping for bonus and free spins would help them get back what they lost. What some people don’t realize, is that most of them end up spending a lot more chasing the money they lost and eventually end up losing sometimes forty times what they initially lost. I recently read an article that was sent to me by a friend, which described and explained how casinos have quite a few tricks of their own to encourage customers to stay and play more money. One of those tricks were, the countless shiny lights and the dynamic music, these two things encourage customers to bet at a faster pace and therefore spend more, research shows that the fast music and colorful lights do infact have an impact. Also, the fact that there aren’t many clocks or windows in most casinos is a sign that they really do want their customers to gamble and lose track of time, which is also a neat trick. The casinos in my country usually post pictures of the slot machines that pay out bonuses etc, on their Facebook pages which no doubt is a way to promote the casino and encourage new customers to come and try their luck. Personally, I have spoken to some of those ‘winners’ who all have the same thing to say, “I was betting big and what I won wasn’t even what I came with or even what I lost over the months of me coming here” Some would complain on a daily that they are aware of the fact that they’re losing more than winning on any given day, yet they’re addicted to the machines and the colorful displays on the slots and the excitement of the roulette, but at the end of the day, are we truly winners?

A casino is not a charity, it earns on any game. The best games, or those where a casino earns less are baccarat ($98.5 distributed for $100 played) and French roulette ($97.3 distributed for $100). Slot machines are the worst : for $100 played a slot machine gives back only $85. And to respond : no, on the long term you cannot win in a casino. Or only if you are a professional poker player.

Some casinos "open" their device so people can won something. After few days, they lock device and almost nobody can win any bigger score.

That’s why I mentioned the occasional win, because that is what makes others think that if the person could win, so could they.

I love going to casinos. I once won around $430 on a penny slot machine. But usually I end up spending more than I win... and the winnings are usually low.

@Blacklisted9322 I am not sure what you mean by "faster betting"... I only play slot machines. I am not sure if my pace is slow or fast when I play. I can do a few spins at a machine, and if I don't win anything in those spins and feel the machine is not for me, I move on to another one. Sometimes, if I like the machine or the game, I will stay on the machine for a while even if it won't give me anything at all in the beginning. What I noticed based on my experience at casinos is this: Let's say a person goes on a slot machine and very quickly manages to win some money. He/she won't just call it a day and go home. That person will keep playing, maybe even on the same machine, to try and win even more money. In the end, that person leaves with an empty wallet. And when a person sits at a machine and keeps on winning but very small amounts, it seems like that person is winning when in reality he/she is not.

@lovebuglena what I meant was basically if you rush your spins, like instantly repeated spins or if you just spin and slowly spin again. Some people have their fingers on the repeat bet button so much to a point that they stop the actual spin in progress and continue to press the repeat button.

After reading my post, have you thought about the possibility of what I mentioned regarding the music and the lights encouraging faster betting? Do you play at a slow pace or fast?

A casino is a business to make money and they make money by customers losing.

no one wins on gambling. my husband said to me just 1 or 2 bets and if you lose just go out and forget it. because if you tried to get back the lose sometimes it makes worse
