Bood Donor

Have you ever been to a hospital to donate blood? I did that early last year to help save a relatives life who was critically ill and suffering from acute anaemia as a result. The doctor's report was not too encouraging but I kept praying for him. Before he took a pint of my blood, he politely requested that I respond honestly to some salient questions; like, have you donated blood in the last three months? I answered in the negative. The Lab Scientist took a sample of my blood for a thorough examination to ascertain if I was qualified to continue with the exercise. I was very excited when he came back to announce that I was good to go.He commended me profusely because the test result confirmed that there were no impurities and appealed that I visit regularly to become a donor as not too many people like the idea of donating blood. Besides, those who are interested in doing so may have some issues with their blood. I feel it is not a bad idea after all. So many people may have died as a result of not having a donor or the right blood group type available to help save their life especially in periods of emergency. Since then, I have made it a point of duty to donate blood regularly at the blood bank. I only do so when it is medically safe. Friends, what is your take on this issue?
