Surrounded by Love Until the End

On December 28th, after a 6 month battle with non-alcoholic cirrhosis, we were told there was nothing else that could be done for my dad. Having spent Christmas in the hospital, all he wanted to do was go home to his family. We all went to the hospital and spent Christmas with him, but as he said, he wanted a proper Christmas at home. On December 29th, he got his wish. He was so happy. Even though he was home with hospice and we knew he was nearing the end, we still clung to hope. He was still daddy, and he still functioned like a dad and grand dad. He was confined to a hospital bed, but he was still expressing love and joy at being home with his family. On January 2, 2018 about 12:30 am , he went home to be with the Lord. When he left us, he left being surrounded by love. But then that was to be expected. His whole life he was surrounded by people who loved him, and he spend his whole life loving others. With all the pain and emptiness we are left with, one thing we don't have is regrets.
Intentionally live your life so that you will, one day, have no regrets. Make sure your loved ones know you love them in life. Don't just show up at a funeral; show up for their life.
The picture is of my dad and my two oldest kids. My babies loved their Poppi.
