Is my personal details safe?

Hellow friends,
This question has been troubling me since I joined Mylot platform. I do love the place and more so friends and discussions here. However, during my introductory post on who I am, someone here (name withheld), in-boxed me via my private e-mail address asking me how sure was I that the details I shared on my profile were safe as I didn't know the kind of people I was interacting with. I possed, breathed in and out before I signed out of my mail.
Sincerely speaking, this question scared me a lot. I was almost quitting the site, but I gave myself hope and confidence to test and see for myself before I quit. I went forward and deleted some of my personal details from my profile. I took time to read through the site terms and conditions to understand the operations better.
Despite having confidence on the privacy policy of Mylot, I have been quiet on this perturbing question even though it is still fresh in my mind. Has anyone had such experience here? Personally, I am confident that my profile details are safe here.
I thought it prudent to share. I will appreciate any contributions that will clear any doubts from those who might have fallen victims of such circumstances.

Nobody but you (and myLot) can see the personal details (i.e. date of birth, email address, PayPal ID and site password) you have entered. If you have notifications set to be forwarded to your email address, myLot will do that but, of course, nobody else but the system can see that.
Any other information you enter in your profile can, of course, be seen by anyone looking at your profile, whether they are logged in to myLot or not and all of your discussions, responses and comments are visible to anyone anywhere, whether they are a member of myLot or not.
It is easy to check what others can see of your information. Simply log out of myLot and then visit your profile
As with any site - even the most secure - your personal information is only as secure as you make it. It would theoretically be possible for someone with suitable know-how to access the database and steal things like email addresses and site passwords, which is why you should never use the same password for any site as the ones you use for other sites, email addresses, banking information and so on.
Like many other sites, certain information may be available to anyone, especially if you use your real name anywhere.

@hereandthere He didn't suggest anything. He just stated that "how do you expose your personal information to persons you don't know on Mylot.?" Nothing more.

@hereandthere Yes, it was just that simple sentence. I don't know what was his intention but I deleted and blocked him immediately.
