Ocra week

It's been awhile since my last post. My ocra trees or some refer it as ladies finger started bearing fruits last week in abundance. We put it in everything, from spicy fish stew to stir-fried veggies. Thanks a lot to @owlwings for helping me in the early stage of plantation. Instead of the usual single stem tree, five of them had multiple stems, as the result of pinching the shoots earlier in growth. They still grow as tall as me now, but the trees is bushier and produce more fruit. They should contribute to my family nutrition intake as well as reducing grocery budget. Every pennies counts.

Glad to be of help! As I think I said, we can't grow ocra here in the UK (except under glass, perhaps) but a little research showed me what kind of plant it is and how it would be likely to respond to pinching out. I'm glad it worked!

Yeah, too bad for that. But I hope you can enjoy gardening other veggies that are suitable with the surrounding there. I sure am, thanks to you.

I wonder if it's the same plant,in the Philippines we're calling it Okra too in our local dialect but it's a shrub not a tree.We are using it as addition to fish soup and stir-fried vegetables.Sometimes, we are are just steaming or boiling and dunk it in soy sauce. It's a good source of fiber and it helps in lowering the blood sugar of diabetics.

They are the same. I know it because the Filifina labour worker who went to the grocery shop where I work called it as that. I love them steamed on top of rice too. They taste sweeter.
