Hello my fellow Mylotter friends. Did you mean me this past weekend? I had a modem and router issue that caused me to be disconnected this weekend. At first it was sporadically, when it happened on and off. I've called Spectrum about it last week, and they said my modem didn't connect to my router. After rebooting my router, it didn't work. So I've called them again almost a week ago. They said I would need a new router and contact Netgear for my almost four-year-old router. So I did that last Thursday and told me about my router disconnection issues. After talking to them for a hour to register my router and then sign up for tech support (something I didn't have when I had my router), they changed the channels and the signals and such to get my router running via screen sharing. I had to pay $140 for a one-time activation fee for free tech support (money I had to get from Paypal to checking to pay for it). But it didn't last long, since I ran into the same issues. So I called Netgear again, five minutes after that first phone call and told them another tech support on the same issue. This time, they're sending me a free upgraded router. I paid $17 out of savings for Option B to get it in 3-5 business days. To make matter worse, after I went here to Mylot on Saturday night, that's when I was totally offline and called Spectrum on my cell. No email, no Internet, no phone. And I had to wait until this morning to get a new modem to see if it fixed the problem. During that time, I read, cleaned, took a quick nap and hung out with Wylie. So now I'm back online, hoping the new modem took care of my Internet issues.

The price we pay for modern technology. It's great when it works and a nightmare during all too frequent issues.

That is ridiculous they charged you that much money for technical support for a router of theirs that got old and isn’t working correctly. I had the same thing happen but they didn’t charge me to fix anything. I feel your company ripped you off.

@KristenH nothing was wrong on your end it was their router they shouldn't have charged you.

@shaggin Well that's what Spectrum said at first, that their end was fine, just the router disconnection. So they suggested to call Spectrum or pay 5 dollars a month for their router. *shrugs*

Well that was the price for 1 year of free tech support. Netgear is reliable. When I get my new router, I would tell them what happened this weekend with my modem. Spectrum came to swap out my old ones.

aww thanks Jen. Not really a rip-off, but I'm glad I don't have to pay extra for a new router. I've been having a lot of technology headaches lately. I've missed you guys.

I am always happy to find my PC working and always pray it continues to work. It is my only connection to the outside world as I am all alone here.

Wow, thats a lot to go through. I am glad my husband is a computer engineer because he handles all of that for us. When our router goes, he just buys a new one so we don't have to deal with techs and all their much needed money. Hope it stays working for you now

You should ask your internet provider if it's possible to have some kind of compensation. That is you don't need to pay the days that the internet is not working.

I do get credit for my bill in the past for swapping items. I recently got 3.12 for last month's bill on my DVR swap. But this has been going on and off, sporadically, for the past couple of weeks though.

Good deal. At least you had no modem issues.
