What's the solution for severe anxiety and depression?

I have severe anxiety and agoraphobia. I can't go anywhere by myself. I took several anti-anxiety meds and I can't tolerate the side effects. I tried mindfulness and physical exercises. Nothing seems to help. Now I have depression and I sleep 5 hours. Before I slept 10 hours. I also tried counselling, but it's expensive. I don't know what to try anymore.

It may be expensive but seeking a professional is still your best bet. Though it works for other people, depression cannot be beaten simply by self-motivation and happy thoughts.

@yokibitz Thank you for asking. I don't feel very good. I am too anxious. But I will survive.

I agree. We can't be recovered if we don't seek professional help. I tried to read so many books. They helped, but I have the same problems.

And here I am complaining about my tiny petty problems. First of all, I admire your bravery for opening up about your condition and seeking help. Not everyone is able to confront his demons. Looks like you've tried many things to try and help and yet to no avail. Although really expensive, you do need to be managed well by a professional. However, there maybe case workers in your community who can direct you to providers who do it for a really cheap fee, if not free? Maybe volunteers? Groups? Church? Maybe your local doctor can recommend one? Does Romania have health care rebates for counseling services? I once tried to seek the help of online psychologists for $200 bucks a month. Per session here would be about 100 something dollars. I only did the free trial and chickened out. Maybe a naturopath can help as well? Maybe some natural supplements can help improve your sleep, or your mood? Maybe get you up at least to a level where you can function a lot better? Not trying to be an expert here though. Also, know your crisis hotline.

@dya80dya To be honest I only did the free trial because 1. Who has 200 bucks 2. I felt like my emotional issues were too petty to warrant seeking help, help which priced at 200 bucks? What I notice is that for every long narrative about you, what you feel, why you come to this place, they replied with one or two lines. I don't know if that was because I was not a paying customer/patient, or I just landed a slack psychologist, or that's how therapy goes? Maybe for someone like you who suffers it severely, they might take your matters more seriously and give you more quality help.

Thank you for your suggestions! I already use medication and I don't think I could mix it with natural supplements. Were you helped by online psychologists? Romania doesn't have health care rebats for counseling services. But I will try to find a volunteer. Unfortunately I live in a small town, without many possibilities.

What do you think is the cause of the problem? Which country do you live in?

I live in Romania. Stress was the cause. I went to medicine. It was really hard.

@indianinkdbbe Do you have panic attacks? I try to ignore the sensations. I too read a lot of self help books.

@dya80dya I was the same ... i never went to therapy cos yes it is expensive ... i read some self help books and the key to it is helping urself! Say to urself that this is not the person u are supposed to be ... find the courage inside to step out and overcome ur fear ... the fear is only real if u believe it is ... dont give fear the power

@Marty1 That's so great that you knew how to seek help. So many people needlessly suffer instead of taking that very important step. Keep up the good work!! Blessings to you!!
