Does anybody like John Wayne? What about Laugh In?

Poppies on the east slopes of the Franklin Mountains, I took this shot in 1997.

Ok ok, the two don't really go together, right? Well folks, I'm here to tell ya that the man was not above makin money ..... I just wonder how much he was paid to do this: Oh, I took the picture above in 1997 when the eastern slopes of the Franklins were covered in poppies, I keep dreaming it'll happen again one day.
Hosted by Dan Rowan and Dick Martin, this ground-breaking variety show was a fast moving barrage of jokes, one-liners, running skits, musical numbers and mad...

I liked Laugh-In more than John Wayne. My Dad sure was into John Wayne, though.

@rebelann Wow. No. I also watched the Beverly Hillbillies episode that had John Wayne in it- him standing next to Granny was pretty amazing. Made her look tiny.

@rebelann Wow. I don't know. I liked Festus a lot. He was a good singer, too.

Thank you, I doubt the slopes will ever look like that again. I'm so glad you got a chuckle ...... if only they'd make shows like that again.

Well, yes, it was definitely bad but I suppose what I found funny was that John Wayne had always struck me as the Cowboy rather than a comedian.

@rebelann Yes, it's precisely because he was known for something else that made it funny.

Now that gave me a great laugh! He almost couldn't say that last line. It was awesome. Yes, I like John Wayne. I just got a classic collection of his movies I hope to watch soon.

There were several good ones on YouTube, I just never thought to see JW do skits like those.

@rebelann I wouldn't have expected it either. I watched Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In and don't remember ever seeing John Wayne.

Many famous people made guest appearances on Laugh In including President Nixon. It was the hip thing to do then.

Your photo is beautiful, it should be on a calendar! Yes, I loved John Wayne and Laugh-In was a very funny show! Goldie Hawn, playing the part of a dumb blonde and look how wealthy it got her:)

I liked some of John Wayne's movies. I loved Laugh In. It was one of the very first somewhat controversial TV shows back in its day, along with Rowan and Martin.

Maybe @Gita17112016 there were a lot of cowboy movies being made when John Wayne was alive.

Laugh-in was ahead of its time. If you watch Saturday Night Live many of the stuff they do is using the Laugh-in format (especially from the original cast). I still watch the re-runs on a channel called "Decades."

It sure was, I loved it. You know, people can say what the want about Nixon but I still think he wasn't as bad as G. W. Bush, that's one president I couldn't stand.

Ought to be funny enough to be worth watching, if I weren't in a public place with sound disabled (I almost always am). My Significant Other was a Green Beret in Vietnam and up-voted John Wayne's portrayal of one...and I like Goldie Hawn (a fellow knitter whom I met in real life in a wool shop).

Oh wow, how kool is that! I like Goldie but my favorite character was portrayed by Arte Johnson, that German dude even made dad laugh and he wasn't a big fan of Laugh In.
