Love or hate this relic from the disco era, “Saturday Night Fever” was a monstrous hit album topping Billboard 24 consecutive weeks and going 16 times platinum in sales. It remains one of the biggest sellers in history and best selling soundtrack ever. The Brothers Gibb were brought in during the movie’s post-production. John Travolta said he danced to other music during filming. Producer Robert Stigwood wanted a title song “Saturday Night” but the Bee Gees already had “Night Fever” written.
According to keyboardist Blue Weaver, the string intro was inspired by Percy Faith’s “Theme from A Summer Place” and Barry Gibb liked the string synthasizer effect. “Night Fever” is a platinum single topping the charts seven consecutive weeks. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Bee Gees are among the biggest selling groups of all time. Maurice and Robin have passed away. Barry recently received a knighthood which he dedicated to his brothers. He still performs solo with help form his son.

I wasn't much of a Bee Gees fan, didn't like the portrayal of women in "Saturday Night Fever," and don't care much for Travolta either, but I did like the sound track and the song "Night Fever."
We actually brought in records and danced to it in gym...one way to get bored high school girls moving!

Meh. I like "Stayin' Alive" (which doesn't fit the theme, I know), especially the way it was used in other movies like Foul Play and Airplane!
Barry had purchased Johnny Cash's home in Hendersonville...then it burned down.

His intention was to turn it into a museum. What a loss.

I remember the day as a teenager of around 14, I heard the song Stayin Alive from the Bee Gees on the local radio channel. That was my first real introduction to Disco and I totally loved that song. It was my favorite song at the time and fell in love with the Bee Gees. One of my prized record albums was the Saturday Night Fever Sound Track.
