A better photo of the sea-eagle's nest

My last post was about a sea-eagle’s nest in the Fitzgerald River National Park near Hopetoun in south-east Western Australia. I always have trouble deciding which photo to use. I wanted to show something of the surroundings but that meant the nest was a bit hard to discern. However if I used a close-up, readers wouldn’t have a sense of the position of the next in the larger environment. So here is a photo which shows the nest better. These nests can sometimes be four metres tall. Do you have trouble choosing a photo for a post? I could learnt to do a collage I guess but then both photos would be smaller. I do wish we could post more than one. Putting one in the comments isn’t always the answer so it can disappear too if there are several comments on the one thread.

It's a least several metres high so it's a pretty big vase.

Sometimes its a toss up as to what photo to use as they really show something different depending on where you stood to get that shot and the angles and lighting. This is a really good shot.

Thanks. A photo can help a great deal if you are trying to describe something.

We were quite some distance away. If you look at the photo on the other post you can see where we're standing in relation to the rock.

I have not used a photo on a few posts recently but yes, I do usually have a photo in mind for a post.

@JudyEv some days I am just rushing and don't bother with a photo but I do think it raises a post up to have one.

Not all posts needs a photo but many of mine would be very ordinary without one. It depends what you're writing about I guess.

@BelleStarr I always like to have one for some reason. I usually put a flower or tree if I don't have something that 'fits'.

I hope they leave it alone permanently and not put any human intervention of any kind. They deserve sanctuary.

It would be very hard to interfere with the nest at its present site. Although our friend climbed out there, not many people would be foolish enough to attempt it.

That’s a safe position for a nest. I don’t use pictures for my posts very often

I always put a photo but I'm quite happy to read posts without photos so I don't think it makes much difference really. It depends what you're talking about. Sometimes a photo makes a point clearer than just trying to explain it. For instance, this discussion would go nowhere without a photo.

@JudyEv Were are your photos? Like are they on a memory stick? That's where I keep most of mine. Much easier that way.

Particularly because Australia isn't so familiar to others, I sometimes like to include as much background as possible but of course it makes the focus point much smaller.

The picture is outstanding and it gives a bird's eye view. You have a point that if a picture is posted in comments, it gets lost after multiple comments. I think posting a collage is not a bad idea. I try to upload image relevant to the discussion, sometimes, these images are taken from internet and sometimes I use mine.

@JudyEv A photograph along with the discussion helps others pay attention towards the post. I agree with you that it is not necessary that if a post is not accompanied by a picture, it will not get responses, some simple posts get many responses.

I would have said that a photo attracts readers but I read discussions from those I'm following and don't always notice whether they have a photo or not so probably it doesn't matter. However a post like this one would be pretty boring without a photo.
