Almost Sunny Saturday

United States
January 27, 2018 12:10pm CST
I woke up to bright sunshine coming through my bedroom window. But, as the day wears on the sun is fading and the sky is getting a bit gray. I think we're due for some rain tomorrow and maybe snow by Tuesday. The other day I was talking about needing tires for my car. Money I wasn't prepared to spend. Today my issue is with my microwave. I have a microwave that is mounted over my stove and on Thursday it started acting up. When I took something out it turned off but when I opened the door it came back on and continued to run. Then it stopped and it was fine until this morning and now it's doing the same thing. I always worry about anything that is electrical so I refuse to use the microwave. Luckily we had an extra one in the basement so now that's on my kitchen counter taking up more room than I wanted to spare. It just makes it look so cluttered and I hate cluttered countertops. Guess I'm going to have to suck it up until I can find the money to have the mounted one replaced. They say everything comes in 3's so what's next? My budget can't afford another expense. That's my tale of woe for today. What's going on in your corner of the myLot world today?

Luckily you have the spare one. I could live without a microwave. That wouldn’t stress me out. The dishwasher though. . .

I use my microwave for so many things especially steaming vegetables. I can't envision cooking them on the stove anymore

Well, I don't have a microwave, so that's an issue I won't face. It's supposed to be sunny and only a tad cool today, so I'm hoping to cycle.

It's sunny and compared to what you probably have it's warm, it's cool to me though. Knock 3 times on wood, maybe that will break that spell about 3 things etc.

Yes, troubles do seem to come in threes, so I hope it doesn't happen. I'm glad you were spared the expense of buying a new microwave, though you do have the expense of getting the other fixed. I hope it won't be too costly.

The broken one will probably be cheaper to replace than fix but it's still a hassle

Microwaves are so handy. Vince is banned from using the timer on ours as he has burnt out three by pushing the wrong buttons and instead of it timing it heats with nothing in it. Microwaves don't like that. I hope the third thing will be something really minor.

We had one installed over our stove when we had the kitchen redone in our country home, but for my height it wasn't ideal. I did everything that I could not to use it after spilling things on myself while trying to get them out and down from the oven. And it didn't work with my bifocals-just not a great set up for me. We have our current one, which is very small, sitting on the end of our breakfast bar.

@Marilynda1225 I melted some butter in ours once, and took it out and it splashed on my hand.

I spilled hot soup on myself taking it out of the microwave so I totally understand how you feel. Guess I'll be getting used to the one on the counter until i replace the mounted one

I hope that the black series stop here, even if I know that everything comes in 3's. In the past two months we had to replace my computer monitor, the TV set and the refrigerator.

I have mine on the counter top, the mounted ones are to high for me to reach and be safe. I am 5 feet tall and afraid of scalding myself using one up high, I mostly warm coffee in mine, or make popcorn.

Money and budgeting is always a concern everywhere. Why do you say things come in three? I was once in the sea water bathing and the waves started to come in three. I got scared (never saw waves in three before) and flew out of the water.

Well that is a huge bummer about the microwave and stinks that the extra one is taking up space and looks cluttered but it’s lucky you had the extra one! It’s been nice here today and yesterday and will be nice Monday then snow tuesday.

Saturday was really hot and sunny but late afternoon it started to get dark. When I woke up this Sunday morning, it was kind of gloomy and cloudy, No sun in sight and it drizzled a bit. I like this kind of weather though.

y microwave at home did that turn back on thing but it never caught fire or stopped working. I ended up, however, getting a new one from my grandson for Christmas. I have the over the stove type, Lowes and Home Depot have them for just a little over $100 if you are into simple, which I am. I got a GE.

@Marilynda1225 My grandson and his father did it last year while I was down here in Florida. I think it not too complicated.

That sounds affordable. Did it require installation or were you able to mount it over the stove yourself?

I hope this day goes better for you. I have had problems with my microwave which sometimes gets too hot while other times it explodes inside while cooking popcorn. My budget is also stretched too its limit each month.
