What is Love?

More specifically, what's the difference between romantic and platonic love? Because I don't know. I'm always confused when I her people say they're disappointed when the person they have a crush on "only" sees them as a friend.
When you love someone, you want to always be with them, make them happy, help them in their time of need, and never abandon them. It's the same with any healthy relationship, whether it's between friends, family members, or romantic partners.
So what's the core difference here? I know it's not sex, because there's plenty of happily married couples who don't have sex, and there's plenty of friends-with-benefits relationships that don't evolve into romance.

When you love a person you definitely don`t expect that the person will love you back It`s more of unconditional where you`re happy seeing the person happy

@PeachieMew love first of all is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to anyone and when you fell in love you feel that you must protect your partner and you feel incomplete without them. Nowadays the real love is very rare, you only see friends-with-benefits, or the after party couple. Love doesn't mean only kisses and hugs, it also means fight and disappointment with a happy ending after all. Also love does not mean 2 3 month relationship, sometimes if you find the right person it could last forever.

No, that's not what I'm asking. What's the difference between romantic and platonic love?
