Why do good employees leave a company?

As the company director or manager; have you ever asked yourself why good employees leave the company? Many will assume that it is due to poor pay. As much as this could be true, other factors are weightier than remuneration alone.
A research conducted in the job industry gave surprising results. If you are frequently losing employees look at their immediate supervisor. In most cases it was found that it is the main reason why they quit, taking their knowledge and expertise to your competitor.
According to the renowned authors Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman, “people leave supervisors.” So much money has been thrown at the challenge of keeping good people in the form of better pays when in the end the turnover is mostly a supervisor issue. Thus, if you are experiencing a turn over problems you should look first to your supervisors.
Far from the point, an employee’s primary need has less to do with money, and more to do with how he’s treated and how valued he feels working under his/her supervisor.
What’s your opinion?

In my experience, good employees leave because they are not shown enough appreciation, respect or acknowledgement for their work.
