I stopped watching cable TV a few years ago. Since then I really don't know what's going on in world unless it's on Facebook. But I am so much happier since I stopped watching the news and following this show or that show.
But my parents don't see my happiness as a good thing they see it as being stupid.
Now I'm a 27 year old woman and fully capable of making my own choices but maybe I'm wrong. Yes I wouldn't know of anything major until it hit Facebook, but I get to not worry about little stuff.

Your value is not determined by people anyway. God loves you and thinks you are amazing-that is what truly matters! If not watching the news makes you more happy then there is nothing wrong with that. I don't watch TV either, I read the Bible, come on here, spend time with my children, etc...

Religion is important as long as family is involved. Agree completely

I don't watch the news on tv because these days news are being sensationalised and I don't know the truth anymore since most are exaggerated. I read the news though to keep up with what's going on around the world. I don't trust facebook for something like that.

We do not watch the news, nor do we have cable. Some things do flash on the screen while we are online, but we don't care about those things.
Floating along in our little bubble works just fine for us @Amberlily
