Who Knew?

Of course, I should have known something was up as I sat down to have a mani/pedi this afternoon, and of course, I was getting text bombed by my neighbor, Dr. Jay, which I started to ignore, just so I could enjoy my mani/pedi, and of course, I ignored all subsequent texts that followed.
But who knew what I missed?
My son and his mother-in-law texted me loads of photos, information, and a video. Apparently, the Ice Princess had preliminaries today, took home a second place medal, and doesn't have to skate tomorrow for placing so high. Who knew?
They are now heading to West Point, because my 7 year old grandson's ice hockey team was invited to play during half time at The Army Hockey Game as goalie. Who knew?
Wish I can post my Ice Princess's gorgeous skate, but I'm not allowed.

@DianneN I'm sure she'll be watching the Winter Olympics in a couple of weeks, which will inspire her even more to rise to greatness!

@moffittjc She always watches, and when she was 4 or 5, announced to one and all that she will be in the 2026 Olympics. If that doesn't work out, she announced that she will be a Broadway star.

@TheHorse Now, California and Florida are covered with fabulous ice skating rinks. I skated on a frozen swamp in the woods and a few frozen ponds. I never had the desire to learn how to skate properly. My son read my granddaughter a Pinky book about ice skating when she was 3 years old. She wanted to go ice skating, so they took her to a rink. She just took off on those skates. They gave her lessons, and the rest is history. lol

@kobesbuddy She certainly was impressive in her video. She has learned so much since last year. Her coach was so thrilled! He was there to watch her performance. We think he has his eye on her.

I wish I could watch the video but I definitely understand why they don’t want it posted. We are lucky to get to see this beautiful photo. She looks so adorable in that custom made outfit. Looks similar to the red carpet at the oscars or Grammys (not sure which one has it or both ha ha). Such fantastic news for both your granddaughter and grandson!

I'm hoping to be able to post it on Facebook and then here for a couple of days if they don't discover it. Lol! She loves that outfit and wore her red gloves to match. It went perfectly with the music. I have to find out what the name of the piece is. Many thanks! You know how relieved I am. This was a huge skate for her against older girls on the same skill level. Her coach was very, very pleased! I'm so excited, I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. lol.

Is that the one thousand dollars outfit she is wearing? She looks stunning in that and that medal matches perfectly too

Thanks so much. She has been figure skating since she was 3 and is now 9. She made Regionals last year. Next will be Sectionals, Nationals, and hopefully the Olympics. She was rated B+ in talent, but works so hard and puts in long hours. Btw, she was rated an A in following directions and ability.

Thank you! You may get to see her skate on Facebook, but she has to approve it. She worries that her other ice skating friends may see it. I'm waiting for her to think it over. I'm so relieved it's over. They needed to get out of town quickly!

Thank you, Catherine. I love her in red, too. She posed for many photos in that costume and loves it. It makes her feel more grown up. lol. I haven't heard anything about my grandson, yet. It was just an exhibition game during halftime break for a college hockey game. They did see a bald eagle flying!!!!
