Are you a creature of habit?

It has struck me that my actions are getting very predictable, especially on Saturday mornings. I always spend an hour on the computer before breakfast, which is always the same - cereal and toast - during which my wife and I will tackle the Times quick crossword, followed by the weekend puzzles and literary quiz. Then the washing goes in the washing machine, we prepare the veg for our lunchtime soup, and every third week, which this is, we clean the house. That's the morning taken care of without even having to stop to wonder, "what shall we do next?" In the words of the famous little ditty - "I'm a being that moves in predestined grooves - I'm not even a bus, I'm a tram!" Are you?

Is it habit or routine, and is there a difference. I have a routine....but I'm flexible enough to alter it easily.

I think there is little difference between the two. We can alter or mix it up but routine basically remains.

Sticking to routines I notice has advantages I follow them too.

Yes, I am a creature of habit and I am perfectly fine with that.

I think, by nature, humans are creatures of habit. I tend to follow the same exact routine every day during the weekdays, but I do vary it up on weekends depending on what is going on at the time. But I do find myself engaging in predictable patterns. Sometimes I have to prod myself to do something a little differently just to mix it up a little bit and keep me from getting stale! haha

I am a creature of habit. Your habits sound productive. Mine are to think of things that need doing and procrastinate

You need to change things so you are less predictable.

I suppose one answer to that is - if you enjoy the way things are, why change them?

Our life can only be colorful if we try to do many things after waking up and working I think if we do what we enjoy doing, Life can never be boring

Good ditty, especially when the second verse is considered: Undaunted, he added, "O cuss! The situation grows steadily wuss: I'll go on my way, Whatever they say, For I won't be a tram – I'm a bus!" Words from some poet whose name eludes me.

I think people in general fall into routines and patterns often dictated to by job schedule. I find myself very predictable following a set routine and tell myself You are so predictable yet it's annoying when routine is disrupted. I think we fall into routine because it works best in accomplishing what we want done.

I had to move fairly often in the past two years. Switching countries, climates, houses - because of my company. And I hated not being able to follow my workout and diet routine. It made me feel weakened. Maybe we all are programmed to be creatures of habit.
