This was recently, Ive been told, turned into a movie. Has anyone seen this or read the book?
I just finished the book a couple of days ago and wow! It was good although disturbing (as it should be given the topic of choice). It is written in the perspective of 5 year old Jack who lives with his mom in a room. An 11 x 11 room that they can never leave. The book leaves you wondering - what the..? Until it is explained as the mom tries to make her son understand that a bad man took her while she was 19 and she had her son while in the room. It is controlled by a numeric lock. The kidnapper comes in most nights and rapes the mom and also beats her up and then leaves again. For his protection she has her son Jack sleep in a wardrobe.
They eventually considee different ways to escape and make a few attempts. Spoiler alert --
They do escape and live for a while in some type of facility before being released to the "Outside" where they both have an extremely hard time adjusting, especially Jack who has never socialized with anyone besides his mom.
I thought this was an excellent read and found it very cool that everything was written in the perspective of a 5 year old. I have read many books and havent read one with such a young narrator.
Have you read this one or seen the movie? If so what did you think? Or anything else good lately?

Would you have preferred if it kind of snapped back and forth between the kid and mom? I am also a fan of books that jump around from perspective to perspective. I sort of have to agree with your statement overall but it was interesting to read or see it through the eyes of a 5 year old.

I loved the book and was excited to see they made it into a movie.
The movie was good but didn't go into as much detail as the book. If you liked the book I'm sure you'll like the movie.
