What's One Thing You Expected to Happen But Never Happened at all?

Is there anything that hurts more than expecting something to happen but it never does?
In love or business expecting can lead to disappointments. I have experienced it in both situations and learned lessons from it.
Today I expected a client can meet the deadline after I have done everything I could to assist them. Sadly, today isn't the day. 
Not too sure if it's my worst expectation that never got met though. How about you? Do you still remember any unmet expectations in your life? If you do, what happened afterwards?
Because after the failed expectation today, I left it all to God. And then I check my Steemit account and find out I won 3rd place in the art contest I joined. Hurray! What a nice way to end the day.

I have expected way too much. I was expecting some money to come in during our review from the work. it was being given to us before with no fail and is consistent so i really expected i have some extra cash for my travel. but sadly - the company's performance is not as good as we all thought it to be and there is no bonus (if i may call it that) or incentives. ='( it is disheartening but i just believe and think of it as something i am sure to be able to cover for if i save up for my travel.

Ouch, that is saddening indeed. I would feel bad too if that happened to me.
