I hate papayas. Just the smell makes me want to puke. When I was in grade school the cafeteria was quite fond of giving slices of papayas for dessert, to my disdain! We didn't have any cafeteria so everyday we filed in a line went to the cafeteria to pick up or lunch after paying for it. There it was the dreaded papaya with its funky smell. I went back to class, sat down and promptly started to eat. We had to finish up all our food. No if, and or but, finish it for there were starving people in China who gladly would eat all the food! I sat there in miserable silence wondering how I was going to eat the dreaded papaya slice. Then it happened. My classmate had a slice of papaya on his plate too, but he was busy watching the teacher standing by the window. Our teacher had a kindergartner going to the same school who ate very slowly so she watched for her daily when we had school as she walked back alone to her class after depositing her plate at the cafeteria all by herself. Then he suddenly opened up his milk carton quietly. Then when the teacher watched for her child he snuck his papaya slice into his carton smashing as though it was empty. Aha! Solution for my slice of papaya. No more anguish of what to do with funky smelling papaya. There she's looking out the window again. I snuck my papaya slice into my empty milk carton. My classmate saved my day!

I went to a number of different schools growing up and had many teachers, mostly good, some were awful. I recall the best and worst.
