Base on my experience, I have huge courage when it comes to English language.
Because English Language is the most influencial and commonly used language in the world, we Filipinos are also colonized. And that language is included to our subject started from kinder to college...
According to EF EPI( English Proficiency Index) of 2017, Philippines is ranked top 15 in the world. And ranked top 3 in Asia...so I'm proud of it.
In my case, because I'm only graduated in High School and took only a 15 days certificate course training, my English was not good enough to use in public and jobs especially call center agency.
I had teach myself for a long time just to help myself speak in English perfectly. I read many english books, novels, newspapers and say it loudly. I memorized the meaning of each english words in my dictionary. I watched american shows, movies and dramas and memorized the pronunciations.
My biggest problem is the GRAMMAR. It is so hard to write or speak in english with the wrong grammar. When I say it to the people and said that I am so stupid cause of my mistake in grammar. I feel so embarass in front of the other if I speak wrongly.
To be part of this site is so good to me. Because of this, I can communicate other people around the globe using the world language which is English.
And Mylot will surely help me with that. In 5 years of staying here, it's not impossible to master this language.lol.
I love my country language. And English is just my vocation and learnings...It is better to know more language than to be just stupid when foreigners asking questions using their language...
Sorry if you read this and noticed that I write so many mistakes and wrong grammar.
I need your understanding. It is not easy to master your language especially when you are poor.
And thanks to those who read this. I appreciate it..

As an English teacher, I can say that you wrote quite well. Your mistakes are common and do occur.
Be attentive and don't worry - only a person who does not speak English at all can be sure that he does not make any mistakes. Good luck

@iridion9 personally, I think that lessons online are not that effective. I teach only in real life

Nobody would dare correct your grammar here. But if you are an observant person and very sensitive about your mistakes (and by sensitive I mean you notice which part of your sentences were wrong), you can actually learn from other's writings when you read them.

There are a vast number of English people who have a poor command of grammar, so it would be unjustified to criticise the grammar of someone to whom English is a second language.
Mylot is global community with members from many countries, so the only requirement is that your English is understood.

what matters is you're willing to learn and work at it. and you're right, it's better to be at least conversant so that we can interact with other nationalities, online or offline.

That person that called you stupid is stupid themselves.Languages are very hard. I learned some Hebrew when I was growing up but it was not the right Hebrew they learn here in Israel. I myself find languages hard to learn. I would not talk to anyone on the bus for a long time because I was afraid to make mistakes. One I did not care anymore and opened my mouth and it starting coming out. Now, I want people to explain when I do not understand but they do not always and find excuses. We were told that Hebrew is the language of the country and have to learn it so when there are people that want to practice their English I tell them you tell us we have to speak Hebrew so instead of practicing your English on me speak to me in Hebrew and they switch back to Hebrew.

i think Grammar is the biggest Problem, when someone want to learn about English.. not just English, but another Languages.. even when you have a English class, or English training, the problem is Grammar..
so what we can do is just practice, more and more..
