Anyone still on myLot From Over 10 Years Ago?

I forgot all about myLot until today, and I was curious to see what it was like now, and whether the Earnings Program was still something it offered. I started my own websites and blogs when I first joined MyLot in 2008 as an extra way to make money while staying at home with my kids...but pretty soon the websites and blogs began earning A LOT more than MyLot, so that took up more time than I had available to spend online each day. It's been a very long time since I've been here, and was just wondering if anyone has been using MyLot for a long time and remember the "good old days" of 2008. I always liked the myLot community, as it was much more positive and upbeat compared to other networks. I really wish more of my friends/family who were on Facebook would switch to this site, it makes so much more sense to be supported by a community of others who value the content you provide rather than stalking your personal information and selling it to advertisers. As for an update since I was last here, I looked at some of my last posts here and I can't even believe that was almost 10 years ago - my kids are hardly the babies they used to be! My oldest is now 14 and taller than me! {How does this happen!?!?!} Anyways, I may start hanging out here more often, we'll see - I think there have been a lot of changes to the platform since I first started using it back in 2008, but something I always appreciated was the Earnings Program - even if it was only $10-$20 in PayPal each month, that's was always a nice surprise to have, especially when you had a chance to make so many new online friends! Anyways, if any of you are long-lost MyLot friends from almost a decade ago, please say Hi! I know there were many regular people I used to talk to quite a lot and I'd love to catch up! And if you're a newer user, feel free to say hello as well and share with me some of your favorite topics to talk about on MyLot I should be catching up on! It might be nice to start hanging out here more than other social networks again!

I joined mylot about 10 years ago. There was a long gap between when I was first on the site until now though. I didn't post for several years. There are a few of us old timers around. Alot of people also came here from Bubblemews. A site I missed somehow that everyone else seems like they were on.

I never heard of Bubblemews either! Back in those days there were a lot of sites that came and went. Associated Content and Gather.com were two of my favorite websites - I used to publish a lot of poetry at both places. Then AssociatedContent was purchased by Yahoo and they completely stopped paying users to write anything - it was sad, because that was another great site with a great community, and i used to make $60-$80/month from AssociatedContent alone for a few articles. I hope mylot maybe can help take place for those kinds of sites, because for people who are maybe stay at home parents or on a tight fixed income, it's good to find legitimate ways to write and earn a little bit of spare cash on the side.

@vera5d I was on Gather too....that was a good site. It bit the dust however, like so many other internet sites. Mylot seems to have staying power.

Yes dear friend @vera5d , I have just re-entered few days back and enjoying the site the way I used to do a decade back! Yes they do pay still, but the algorithm is different and it is taking much time to make few cents...!

I was feeling young today Until you reminded me that I joined this site on my 20's and I am not on my 20's anymore.

I was in my 20's too if that makes you feel any better! And when I joined this site my son was about 2 1/2 feet tall and now he is taller than me at 5'9"! Personally I like being in the 30's-40's age range - smart enough to have some experience, young enough to still take some risks & experience a lot of new things! :)

@vera5d On this age though, I realized my Mortality. I miss the young fearless young and dumb daredevil I was. Now I am older and wiser, I feel more boring and serious with all the responsibilities I have. I do like some things about being 30. I am financially wiser. I was a one day millionaire on payday when I was younger.

wow great to you had been here for more than ten years ago. I just joined mylot mid last year and have not been so much regular in the few months. But i would appreciate this platform has created a responsible community that values each ones content and status. it is never like this in facebook or twitter. Linkedin to some extent have tried to maintain the professionalism they preach but violation of this is also inevitable.

I agree @Basilo! It is hard to build a welcoming platform that has a responsible and upbeat community! I could never get into Twitter, and Facebook to me is just distraction city, lol...you start scrolling and next thing you know I've got like 25 tabs open in my internet browser, lol. LinkedIn recently I noticed a LOT of questionable spammy stuff {from their "INfluencers program}. Look forward to seeing you more around here!

I have been here for about eleven and a half years now. After the earnings program was cancelled I originally planned on staying here anyway, but most of my friends moved on and the quality fell drastically. I left for a while but returned once the site attracted more members again.

@vera5d The referral system was not very practical and is unlikely to return. It promoted some members to concentrate on referring instead of participating in interaction.

That was what I noticed also when I started spending less time here after the earnings program was cancelled. Many of my friends had left or abandoned their daily discussions, and so there wasn't even much to talk about. I'm glad they brought the earnings program back, hopefully they will bring the referral program back too - that was a good way to get some friends off MySpace & Facebook at the time!
