Scientist say chocolate may be extinct by the year 2050 due to changing temperatures around the world. I still don't believe this. There are cacao growers here in my country so I still believe chocolates will still be available. But maybe cacao trees are hard to grow they need perfect climate to grow, I may still be alive at that time. I will be sad if it happens. I love chocolates so much http://gulfnews.com/news/europe/uk/chocolate-likely-to-get-extinct-by-2050-1.2151441

Swiss companies are already studying a way to make a cocoa tree that can resist the climate change. Relax, we still will have chocolate in 2050.

@LadyDuck How old are you by 2050? I think I'm around 60 years old. I guess I'm still alive

I don't think those chocolate manufacturers will let it be extinct. They will see to it that their source will really keep their plantation well.

@averygirl72 In fact, the owner of our company has already sent some employees to trainings with regards cacao planting and they have planted already cacao on one of his lands.

You are right. It's a good business. They will not let their business to stop so they make sure there is enough supply of cacao

I don't think the Philippines would run out of cacao trees not unless something really catastrophic happens to our environment like simultaneous super volcano eruptions or an asteroid hitting the Earth or something..

@averygirl72 climate change might be gradual unlike an asteroid collision, its been hypothesized that they made dinosaurs extinct, what more of beans.

Well, they're not all healthy, I would be more alarmed if fruits and vegetables would become extinct.

Chocolate have flavanoids which is good for the heart. It is also aphrodisiac so it is good for men with reproductive problems. Chocolate does have health benefits. It is even good for cancer patients. its the sweet Milk chocolate that makes people fat. Not the Pure Black bitter chocolate.

They only saysthese things to help people become a little be more protective of the enviroment. Honey had the same situation and even though it is still very low, honey and honey bees are taken more care of and they are using less pesticides too. It will be the same with chocolate and even if the enviroment cannot handle it, they would find a way to save it, it is why biodomes are so important.

You are absolutely right. What are biodomes? It's just to scare people and make them more concern of the environment

@averygirl72 There is a huge one in I think Nevada. They are domes that have biomes, which are basically different environments, in this massive building. So they have rooms of temperatures for Jungles and Artic. They are rather interesting.

It would be very sad if it happens. They also say the same thing about bananas. Maybe we will wake up and take better care of the planet.

Nearly half of the World's cacao beans are produced in Ivory Coast, in Asia, Indonesia, tops with about 25 percent. So there is no problem.

Maybe it's a wrong prediction. These countries will be able to produce cacao beans up to year 2050

I don't think it will come to the point that we will not be able to buy chocolate anymore because no more cacao trees are planted. I am sure the companies will grow cacao trees somewhere. They earn a lot of money from chocolate so they don't let this stop.

And modern science can do something for cacao trees to grow even with the threat of global climate change

@averygirl72 (37845)

Climate change would make it hard for cacao trees to grow. It may affect the production of chocolates
