Writing instead of showering

I was on my way to take a shower when I had a sudden urge to write. I decided the shower can wait as it's not going anywhere.
I opened up my Word document file for the poetry manuscript I am working on (my new book) and ended up writing eight poems. Good thing I chose to postpone washing.
Of course, things didn't go as smoothly. I was working on one of the poems when Word froze. I wasn't able to do anything. I waited for a few minutes, hoping the file would be back to normal and I'd be able to continue writing. That didn't happen, so I had no choice but to go to task manager and "end task" on Word.
As a result of doing that I ended up losing that poem because when I opened the recovered file it wasn't there. I thought maybe it would exist in one of the auto saved files. Opened them all but none had it. I tried to remember the poem I had written but was able to recall only the first two lines. Now that poem is gone forever. I did write a new one in its place, with the first two lines as they originally were.
So, what I decided to do was take all the poems in the manuscript and copy them to a new Word doc. This way if anything happens to my manuscript I will still have the poems. As long as nothing happens to the other file of course.
I guess this is a lesson that I should save my Word doc after every poem I write. Though things can go wrong in the middle of writing a poem...

I write a little too and poetry as well- for sure catch those inspirations and thoughts as they arrive- for me I forget or lose the mood if I don't.

It's hard if inspiration strikes, or you are in a sudden urge to write, and have no pen or paper or anything else to write with.

@lovebuglena And I've learned by experience that I do forget later or lose most of the inspiration

Well, if you write it on a piece of paper, you can misplace it or accidentally throw it out, so in this case it's not 100% safe either.

You can end up with a lot of files trying to be sure you're not going to lose something.
