Grieve for the Life You Had Before You Learned that You Need to Be Redeemed by Grace You Don't Deserve! (I Grieve)

That's why we 'suffer' Lent for 40 days (taking breaks from 'the grief' on Sundays) before "Resurrection Sunday" (a.k.a. Easter). 'Grief' is more than "feeling depressed about a close-personal loss," it's 'accepting that what you lost will always be a happy memory but -will never return!' ("Graduation" is a 'grief' for your younger school-days; "Marriage" is a 'grief' for your wild singles' days; and "Funerals" (wakes, memorial services, etc.) are a 'grief' for the roles people once filled in your life) Tho we don't want our minds to 'suffer' (so we placate them with "Oh, our Lord Jesus Christ will rise again!" or "Oh, we'll receive new bodies one day the same way He did!"), we need to remind our bodies that we won't need them forever; so we anoint them with ashes (do any of us wear sackcloth? that used to be another way to grieve). Do you have any traditions you 'suffer' during Lent?
