Black n White

Renewal of driver's license, passport, and my professional license are very stressful for me. Thus, I usually have the worst photos on them and I wouldn't dare show them to anybody.
Today, I have decided to renew my driver's license which will expire on the day of my birth, 18th February. To avoid long queue, I woke up at 6, tied my hair in a bun, and applied makeup as I want this 5 year long license's photo to be as pretty as possible.
After an hour at the land transportation office, I got my license and got disappointed. What used to be a coloured photo in my previous license is now in black and out. All the effort I put into applying my makeup this morning turned out to be in vain.

It's just a shame that it's not in coloured actually. This is the first time that they changed it to a black and white one. It used to be coloured.

@LadyDuck I think they want to cut cost on printing coloured photos on a pvc. You see, the previous license were renewable every 3 years, but now it's 5 but we pay the same fee. So they're earning less which means they have to make use of the very little money they're getting.

@toniganzon I wonder why they decided for a black and white photo.

I think your picture came out really nice!
Mine is also black and white. I have no idea why they went from color to b/w. Strange?

@toniganzon Here we pay a yearly fee even if the licence is for 5 years

@1hopefulman That's why you still got a coloured photo in your license. We pay only once every renewal.

It's because the period of renewing the license was extended for another two years. So I think to cut cost, they used black n white instead of coloured. We used to renew our license every three years. It's on this year that they changed it to 5 years and we pay the same fee.

I think there's a universal law across this planet that says that nobody is allowed to have a great driver's license photo! So, Toni, you are breaking the law by having a very nice photo on your license! haha
Seriously, I don't know why it's so hard to get a good photo, but you did it! Even if it is in black and white, it's still a good photo!

Thanks for the flattery Jeff! I'm enjoying your response. But you know what, it too me a lot to look great today. woke up too early just to do that makeup just to make sure I would look good on something I'll be carrying with me for 5 years lol!
It would have been even better if it was in coloured like how it used to be. My previous license was in coloured and I looked terrible as I really didn't prepare for that.

@moffittjc I live too far away from Mayon so I'm fine. @simplyD lives there though but she's still active here.
I was surprised when I got my card this morning to see it was in black n white too. Driver's license are supposed to be in coloured. Even my friends were a bit shocked when they saw my newly renewed license.

@toniganzon I'm surprised the photo was not in color, it doesn't make much sense to make it black and white. But at least you can be happy with the fact that it is a good photo of you!
Hey, do you live anywhere close to the Mayon volcano that has been erupting there? I was just reading about it from another myLotter.

That is so true! Starting this year driver's license renewal has been extended to 5 years instead of 3. That's why I think that the photos are now in black and white instead of colroed as what it used to be.

@toniganzon If it is a 'bad' photo you have to put up with it for 5 years. Our licence is for five years too.

I believe they were cutting cost. Our license used to be coloured but we have to renew it every three years. Now it has been changed to every 5 years at the same fee and using a coloured photo is more costly.

@infatuatedbby that's what I was thinking too when I got my newly renewed license, so it gave me a shock that it was in coloured. But Mike here said it's black and white in England too.

@toniganzon But I think a colored photo would be more to tell the persons complexion too since that'll be important to determine if the person on the ID is in fact the person? But whichever works!
I don't like my drivers license photo, none of them lol! Yours look nice :)

Yes, your photo is in black and white, Toni, but I see nothing wrong with it. You are still beautiful! (Alright, I might not be the most objective person around, but at least I see you as beautiful, right? (smiling at you)
I see you changed your avatar again. *sigh* I guess that's okay because I know you will post another picture showing your beauty soon enough...

@toniganzon I didn't say I didn't like it, Toni... And I have been told recently that I push to know too much about the people I like here on myLot...
I think it may be time for me to look for another site to play on... or just stay off the computer completely.

It's not bad for a driver's license. Ours are in color. My last two license photos actually looked pretty decent for some strange reason, but not any of my passports - ever! I'm surprised they didn't ban me from entering foreign countries with my face!

The only nice photo I had in my passport was when I had it renewed in the Philippine embassy in Bangkok. They allowed me to smile there. But here, we are never allowed to smile.
I heard that in Canada they also started the black and white this year and Mike told me it's black and white in England too.

The boyfriend's ID is colored too and I don't know if he will have another ID.
His driver's license will expire on his Birthday too which is this month.
Yes, your preparation is all in vain but the good thing is you already have it in one day.

It's coloured because it was taken three years ago if you're saying that it's expiring this year. They started the black n white only this year.

The reason is cost-cutting. Coz we pay almost the same exact fee but this time the validity is 5 years and no longer 3 years. I learned from Mike in the UK it's blakc nw white and Felix said in Canada it's the same for this year too.
