I am not sure if I am an atheist or not! But I am sure that I am a rationalist!
We all know and believe that God is present every where!
Then why we need to go to the places like Temple, Mosque, Gurudwara, Church, Pagora etc. to pray him or to worship?
I am really confused!
I will be very happy to know what you think about it dear friend?
Thanks ! God bless!

The Bible encourages believers to meet regularly for instruction, reminders, encouragement, friendship, etc.

My question is that then why do we all pray the Lord when we are in distress where ever we are! We never wait to go to Church when we are in crisis dear @1hopefulman ! This just a friendly argument to see what are the facts! Let us use our rational feelings! Thanks!

@AKRao24 We can pray anytime, anywhere. Read my comment carefully as to why we are encouraged to meet with fellow believers on a regular basis.
I used to tell people that if you are doing well, the meetings need you and if you are not doing well then you need the meetings. Either way we should be there.
It's like you can eat by yourself but it's so much more enjoyable eating together with your family. Believers are like a family.

Okay, for the sake of argument, maybe people's or religions God or Gods also demand obedience.

@AKRao24 most religions have texts or books that have rules that need to be followed, obviously most would describe how, where when etc...to worship, most members also believe that these are direct orders from God, that is obedience that I was trying to imply.

That means without seeing the almighty we all are believing in the things which have been handed over to us to obey by the people who also have never seen him/her dear @louievill ? Thanks!

If you want to understand religion study history - it's all there but dig deep. If you want to understand 'God' look no further than within your own spirit.
But a more straightforward answer to your question is (in my experience) - You don't need these places and more you don't need to worship 'him' either. What you need is a clear understanding of what all this is, was meant to be and where it's going. It aint what you think.

Rationalist? You are surely headed in the right direction to Discover the Real Truth. Everything about God will add up completely.
You are right. Prayer can be as simple as a thought. This can be anywhere.
People like to control. They can make rules for almost anything. Following will not bring you all the answers. One must be brave enough not to follow and venture into undiscovered country where the Real Truth waits to be discovered.
To Question is the start on the journey to Discovery. As I can see you are doing just that. Good for you!!

We don't have to go to a church or anyplace else to pray. We can pray wherever we are and should at various times. The church is a place to fellowship with other believers and to hear a message preached.

I think that this is a matter of choice. For example, there is no such rule in Hinduism that forces people to go to temples. Still, temples by and large offer a lot of positive energy in their atmosphere, because of the constant prayers and the poojas being performed. Hence, a lot of people find peace of mind when they visit temples, which they don't find when they are home.

Despite having their own personal temples at home dear friend @houda28 ? Many houses in India in hundu families they have their own worshiping places which are no way less than any temple! But despite that why they want to go to temples outside to seek the God or to pray the God? If they want to go to the temples then they should discontinue the worship at the house. But they believe that they can pray the God and reach him from their house and also at temple! This makes me confused dear friend!
