Spring in California is strange!

During a normal Winter, California's beauty peaks in January. The hills are Ireland green, and blossoms on our tress are not far behind. The air is cool (50s F) and perfect for hiking.
This Winter, we've been a bit rain-deprived, but our hills were still a beautiful green a week ago. I'll attach picture from recent years if I receive any comments to this post. But I already see the brown (some call it gold) of Summer poking through.
The blossoms appear to be on-schedule. I took this picture today, at the end of a bike ride. The building is actually a part of my apartment complex. So, while people in the Midwest are suffering through cold and digging out of snow storms, we're already getting hints of brown in our grass and admiring Spring's blossoms.
Is that why Californians are so weird?

It's a wonderful season for eucalyptus blossom in our area. The trees are all displaying a great covering of (mostly) white blossom. The photo is from a previous year and is actually a melaleuca or paperbark but the blossom is the same. This one is on the side of a street.

@JohnRoberts It is a really good season for the bee-keepers here and apparently the latest popular thefts are beehives! You'd want to know what you were doing, wouldn't you?

Most of our grass is brown as we have not had any rain just snow. The snow has been gone for awhile now but we are expecting rain next week so that will help alot. I know you all struggle with hardly any rain so i'll be glad to pass some along to you whenever it arrives here.

Most probably.
My grandparents lived in LA City. They're both gone now and I miss them.

You're right. I saw the almond trees blooming all over when I went to town today. I'm sure the peaches won't be far behind. I'm afraid, though, that the frost might get all those lovely blossoms before they can turn into fruit. Here on the Central Coast we expect freezing temperatures for about the next ten nights -- even though daytime temperatures have been warm.

@TheHorse Not for a few days, but we may get rain at the beginning and end of next week. I need to spread seeds and organic snail bait. That should mean higher night temperatures. After it warms up I can take the floating row covers off for a time.

I don't think Californians are weird as I was born in California (Glendale). But I'm kinda jealous of the weather your having. This week is supposed to be warmer even in the 60's. I was so disappointed that there was ice on the road this morning as we couldn't make it to church again, we have missed three Sundays because of snow and ice, ugh! Sure makes me appreciate church a whole lot not being able to go. I don't think the snow is behind us quite yet! But time will tell.

You may be on to something there!
We have daffodils and crocus here, barely a freeze yet this winter, now snow is predicted off and on this week with overnight temps in the 20s.

Our trees here are still barren. And it's really cold, especially at night.

OH lordy don't tell me you are heading towards a drought situation again. They have had a serious water supply in Cape Town over the past few weeks.

No, it's because all the crazies leave the rest of the country and move here!
