Mildred the Cat - miffed about my mom's poetry

Hi everybody. It's Mildred the Cat. I hope everybody is doing well and not feeling hurt like I am. This morning I came across this haiku my mom wrote about dogs. I don't like it: Steadfast devotion Loving eyes and loyal heart A forever friend. I confronted my mom about this. She said she wrote it years ago and not to concern myself about it. Well, I am concerned. She never wrote a haiku about me. She is always telling me how beautiful and smart I am, even brilliant, that I am a master manipulator, that I tend to get my own way a lot, all those good things. But I see and hear nothing about my devoted eyes, my incredibly loving heart, my foreverness, nothing, nada. What do you guys think? Should my devoted eyes and loving heart feel crushed or should I, as usual, take the high road and let it go, that is, as long as my treats keep coming? Crushed in Connecticut, Mildred the Cat Till next time, Purrs, paws and high fives Image: Mine

I would leave a long, brown gift on her side of the bed and then take my paw; press it into the gift and then press my paw onto her pillow @LindaCPearson .

Sounds like a real fun idea! Not sure my mom would like it and worry she would take away my treats for awhile. I'm in a real quandary as to what to do.

@LindaCPearson While Mom is sitting in her comfy chair; get up in her lap; give her that gorgeous look; reach up with a paw on each side of her face and lick her nose.

@nanette64 I might try that. She does seem to melt when I do cute things.

I get my lion cut every summer. Right now my hair is really long and I look like a great big puff ball even though I only weigh about 9 pounds!

@LindaCPearson I can imagine if all your hair is as long as your mane then you must be looking very beautiful at the moment.

I am sensitive also and this would probably have hurt my feelers too.

It's hard to be sensitive sometimes. I'll get over it I'm sure. Thanks for your concern.

An amusing post and your mom has written a very good haiku. Just forget about it, that way you'll still get your treats.

Thanks for your advice. I guess you're right. I am trying my best to forget and move on from this.

I'm thinking of payback but have to be careful that I still get my needs met in a manner I'm used to!

Oh my poor, poor Auntie Mildred the Cat! What was she thinking? I will lay on the bed for awhile, close my eyes, and ponder your predicament. Love, Huckleberry the Cat.
