Mildred the Cat - mom tries to redeem herself

Hi everybody. It's Mildred the Cat. I hope you all had a great weekend. As you know from my post yesterday, I've been pretty upset about a haiku my mom wrote about dogs, about how wonderful and devoted they are. For obvious reasons, I wasn't pleased. After some extensive soul-searching, she finally realized how badly she had hurt me and offers this cat haiku in reply: Purrfect companions Head butts, leg rubs, beauty, brains Mildred, you're the best. What do you think? Is it enough? It doesn’t say anything about my devoted eyes and loyal heart. She did say I'm purrfect but I already knew that. I’m not totally convinced of her sincerity but I guess I'll accept it and try to move on. Have a great day, everybody. Till next time, purrs, paws and high fives Image: Mine

At least she had made an effort. Maybe you'll need to be big-hearted and move on.

@LindaCPearson Never forget who pays the bills - and who feeds you. Even a cat would do well to remember these things.

@JudyEv I know. I try to contribute to the household expenses with my posts but my mom does pay for most of my toys and treats.

Sometimes mom's can be thoughtless but you know those dogs are pretty sneaky and weasel their way into people's hearts.

I never met a dog but I'm sure you're right about the sneaky weasel stuff.

Milk it for all you can, show her who the lioness is in that cave!

I'm trying but I'm also being cautious - don't want to lose my special treats.

I say squeeze her for more! After all, it was a grave insult writing of awful dogs.

You're right. I've heard cats are more aloof than dogs. I think I'll try aloofing for awhile.

Dear Auntie Mildred the Cat, I'm glad your mom has seen the error of her ways. The haiku is nice and everything, but it seems a little insufficient. After all, it is only three lines and a few words. I'm sure she meant well and put a lot of effort into it, and it sounds good, but still. You can't eat it, you can't play with it, and you can't even knock it off the table. What good is anything if you can't eat it, play with it, or knock it off the table? Hold out for toys and chicken treats. I have my mama trained to hand over the treats when she's feeling guilty. Lovingly, Huckleberry the Cat

Dearest Nifty Nephew Huckleberry the Cat - I am always amazed at your brilliance and wisdom, especially at your tender young age. Many cats don't reach your level of maturity ever. I agree with you, the haiku was a bit flat, didn't adequately describe my greatness and devotedness. I'm also with you on the uselessness of the haiku and with the joy experienced in knocking things down. I'll bet hundreds of my mom's missing pens and knitting needles that "fell" off the kitchen table are lying under the refrigerator, never to be seen again. As always, thanks for your support. Luv, Auntie Mildred the Cat
