When ‘Gangnam Style’ hit YouTube like a tsunami six years ago, many people were surprised to learn how popular Korean dramas are in Asia and around the world. Killer soundtracks, well talented actors, mouth watering food and family oriented culture. These are some of the most powerful tools the Korean entertainment industry uses to invade the world. In the span of three years, I have watched more than ten K- Dramas. I know, this is not a big number but it’s increasing throughout the years. There many reasons why I like Korean dramas. Reason 1: They have one season: a typical K- Drama usually has 16- 18 episodes and 50-100 episodes for historical drama. The length is perfect enough to tell a whole connected story that has a strong plot and conclusion. Reason 2: A Family-Oriented Asian Culture: the majority of Korean dramas present a moral lesson to the viewers through Korean culture. Watch even one Korean drama and you will see how Koreans bow towards their elders and use polite words toward strangers or to people close to them. Reason 3: A Romantic story without the need for obscene scenes between couples: Most K-Dramas are G-rated compared to their western counterparts- which means is violence is minimal, love scenes rarely progress past kissing and dirty language is rare. Reason 4: Killer soundtracks: Music plays an important role in K- dramas’ success. Most OSTs are inseparable from the show, building feelings to viewers' hearts throughout the plots, especially at cliffhanger moments. Reason 5: Mouthwatering food - If you're looking for fresh dishes to add to your usual menu, then look no further than your favorite K-drama! What about you ? Do you like Korean Dramas ?

I felt nostalgic about my childhood the whole time while watching reply 1988. Made me think about my youth the whole time and how I lived it.

I tend to avoid "dramas" in general. I think that's true of most American males. Except those who enjoy "professional" wrestling.
