North Dakota is one of the few states that I have not visited. I have been all over South Dakota.
Although ND is sparsely populated, it is one of the nation's leading producers of crude oil.
Named for the Dakota Sioux nation, both ND and SD became the 39th and 40th states. In 1889.
Motto: "Liberty and Union, Now and Forever, One and Inseperable".
Nickname: Peace Garden State

Not to sound ugly about it but I used to say..."there is nothing in North Dakota that I need to see." Then, my oldest son married a girl, who's father was born and raised in ND and through him, I learned a lot about ND. I still don't PLAN on ever going there, however.

Its VERY cold in ND. Winters can be brutal. Personally, I don't know why anyone would choose to live in ND. I apologize to anyone who does. Give me your reason, so I can consider it...

@IreneVincent Well, if you're saying it's very cold then I am sure it would be much too cold for my liking.

Never been there when I lived in the states but I know people who have enjoyed going to the Peace Garden and then over the border into Canada. It is the only spot where you can get into Canada without border control hassle.

Times must have changed since I lived in Maine. We never had any hassle going back and forth into Canada.
