Meet Charlie, Our New Family Member

At first we said we wouldn't have another cat after Smooch. We'd had him more than fifteen years and thought we would be able to live without a cat now.
But, we've always had a cat. We've been married 46 years and in that time only the first week after our marriage has been without a cat. When we read an article in the local paper about a lady who rescued abandoned kitten litters and socialised them for new homes we knew we still had it in our hearts to give a cat a home.
And so, seven days ago we visited the place where these abandoned kittens were being cared for after being rescued and found our new family member. Now Charlie is a delightful addition to our family.
We brought him home last Sunday. He was very timid and not sure what to make of the situation. He stayed in hiding most of the day. Now seven days later it's as if he has been here forever.
So, while Smooch is still very much in our hearts, we are delighted to have Charlie with us. He makes us laugh with his kittenish antics and he has plenty of love to share.
Being the parents of a kitten is exhausting! And time wasting. But we already love him to bits.

he's so cute. i'm glad he feels at home now. yes, kittens are entertaining and endearing because they're learning things for the first time. does he prefer being indoors or the outdoors?

@hereandthere only one other cat in the neighbourhood that we know of - an old fellow who is already missing his regular fights with Smooch! He turned up at the door one day looking for his old friend. Charlie hasn't met him yet! Dogs are usually well controlled here.

The loss of a pet is just as painful as another family member. I am glad you have found a replacement. From a therapeutic point of view they are very good for you! Gives you an interest and help reduce loneliness and brings down blood pressure! So there are good points for your own health too!

That is nice name. We named that monkey who visited us for a year and then vanished. One cannot live without pets and you have done the right thing.
