My daughter invited me to a sushi restaurant.

I was at my daughter´s house all day. I brought some appetizers before lunch and helped out with the covers for Sofía´s books as the school year will start in a couple of weeks.
My son in law worked hard pasting a wall and preparing it to be papered next week.
So we all deserved a dinner out and my daughter invited us.
I suppose that she did not want to make dinner either. We had been working all day.
The restaurant had delicious food and I ate fresh tuna sashimi besides the rolls. Sofía preferred salmon sashimi and she did not spice it with wasabi as I did.
Do you like to eat sushi?

I have never eaten it before. Am curious. I was told to try the Teriyaki type first. I love salmon and the wasabi.

@marguicha I’ve been making Mexican almost every day that I’ve cooked this month. Chowhound has MORE MEXICAN EVERYDAY by Rick Bayless as their Cookbook of the Month so we’ve all been making various recipes out of it throughout these past few weeks. One more to go!

@NJChicaa I would eat Mexican food for many days, but not the same Mexican food. Mexicans have a wide variety of dishes.

The first time I had Unagi (Eel) Sashimi. It was pretty good. I went to a Sushi place for lunch today actually, but just had a few rolls. One of which was an Eeel & avocado one. It was pretty tasty.

I love raw fish. We have an eel in our sea that we usually eat fried or in soup. I don´t know if it is the same one.

@marguicha The eels they use tend to be freshwater ones. But eels are pretty similar.

I like the veggie ones. Or the ones that are little baggies stuffed with rice, candy seaweed and topped with orange fish eggs.

Some people are afraid of trying different food. What sort of food do you eat in your country?

@marguicha I prefer well cooked food rather than raw food. I heard that Japanese food tends to be uncooked.

@marguicha In fact if you put a little bit on the knife when you are cutting the sushi, the result will be better.

I have prepared sushi at home. But I wish I had a thinner knife to cut the rolls.

Yes, I do like sushi, although I don't have it often. It is on the expensive side.

@marguicha The knife is important, those rolls are hard to cut.

I love sushi. My new favorite thing is ikura or masago sushi with (raw) quail egg on top. I had not known of its existence until I met my husband. Now every time we go out for sushi, if a restaurant has quail eggs, we always get that.

@marguicha It's delicious but you have to be okay with eating raw quail egg.

You know that you can make it yourself! I learned to cook sushi on a summer when I had a shoulder problem. I did not go out much, so I was hooked to a TV show where they taught how to make sushi.

@thelme55 You can make sushi with no raw fish. That is just an option.

@marguicha yes, I know but fish is not so fresh here and so expensive. I have seen a lot in you tube how sushis were made.
