This is the day that @JohnRoberts has been waiting for. Trust me. (Just kidding.) Here's the next song that I'm picking from the list of #1 country songs through the years. For today's song, it's an old favorite...in fact, my all-time favorite. To no one's surprise, here's today's country chart topper. 1966 (Country): Blue Side of Lonesome - Jim Reeves Jim Reeves was remarkably popular during his lifetime. He was also quite popular after his 1964 death in a plane crash. His posthumous number one hits outnumbered the songs that hit #1 while he was alive by one (six posthumous #1 songs versus five in his lifetime). That shows that his success wasn't a "sympathy" issue. If you know anything about me, you know I love Jim Reeves. I guess my screen name is a dead giveaway, huh? This is my all-time favorite Jim Reeves song, too, a great 3/4 time song about misery to the nth degree. Originally recorded in 1962 but not released as a single, it was overdubbed and shortened for a 1966 album, but that didn't stop people from buying it. That says a lot about Jim Reeves's popularity. Blue Side of Lonesome Written by Leon Payne Recorded by Jim Reeves From The Country Side of Jim Reeves, 1962 and Blue Side of Lonesome, 1966 #1 for one week Things never change in this place (sorry, can't bring myself to post that overdubbed version):

Only the good die young, Wait! That's another song. I've heard his music and he did have a wonderful voice. Big loss.

This guy's voice was pretty good. He was definitely no Geddy Lee, though!
