Ok so rats get kind of s bad reputation. A lot of people think they are rabies infested and they will bite and picture them raiding your garbage cans or in an ally in NYC just waiting to gross you out. Well recently people have really educated themselves and found rats to be completely the opposite. I have also done my research. I watched a lot of Youtube videos and studied them because I was sort of one of those believers that's rats are scary and gross too. Turns out domestic rats when raised properly turn out to be awesome pets. They are highly intelligent, and loving little creatures that are actually Quite cute. They are easy to care for and love affection, show signs even of empathy for other pets. They easily make friends with other types of animals even cats...Yes cats and rats. I saw a video where they had a rat they used to socialize and help other animals that were feeling real depressed when entering a shelter. So amazing. I really think that when we are afraid of something it has developed because of urban legends or stereotypes We buy into that. I advise using the internet as a tool in changing your view on certain pets. I like Youtube because watching a video seems to help me learn more if I see something in action. There is a breeder near by and I would really like to buy them as they should be bought in pairs because they are very social. What do you think? What is your opinion?

My daughter loves rodents. She had two very affectionate rats which came from a friend and they were always handled regularly. The next two rats were rescue and they would bite so it was harder to handle them. Now she has guinea pigs (like myself) which we both absolutely love. They are so sweet and I love their little squeaking noises whenever they hear a bag rustle.

If you want a pet rat you should get one. I would never want one.

Try out your experiment and give us feedback. But it's hard to change the popular perception about rats.

You like rats? I hate rats. I have not heard or seen anyone keeping rats as pets at home. Moreover they will destroy things. I can never think of keeping rat as a pet.

Go for any pet you wish. However, you should know the pros and cons of having that pet. It will help you to stay prepared to all kinds of mischievous your pet may commit.
