I thought so too, until I actually read the first book. You really should check it out, HP isn't just for children anymore.

I think for an adult, it is a bit childish. However the kids seem to like it alot.

oh...maybe I'm like you. I tried to see his movies...but I am not attracted from that genre. I think it's boring. Not much as Lord of the Ring :o). Anyway...I don't like reading books...sorry...:-(...can't get near to books...I know it's a nice thing to read..but I don't like it

The books and movies are VERY POPULAR, so plenty of people must love Harry Potter.
Daniel Radcliffe who plays Hary in the movies is a nice lad, down to earth and a pretty typical 17 year old, but I dont think he'd be a hearthrob for fans if he did not play Harry.

I love the Harry Potter books and I'm not ashamed to say it!! lol.
Once you get into them they're hard to put down. Also I agree with the above poster. Any book that encourages kids to read and love to read is a great thing.

I completely agree with a previous poster...as a teacher, I am a supporter of any book that gets kids excited about reading. I was iffy about the books to begin with, but after reading them, I think they are wonderful. If you teach your kids the difference between fiction and non-fiction, I don't think these books should be an issue with any child whose lexile is high enough to comprehend the novel. They are extremely entertaining books. I have all 6 and can't wait for the last one to come out. I plan to preserve them well so my children can read them. Reading is a great tool.
