What do you think about hospitalization for panic attacks and anxiety?

My panic attacks were out of control in the last months. Doctors never suggested hospitalization for my anxiety and panic attacks. Do you think it's a good idea to stay at home and try to recover? Or should I be hospitalized?

You should heed what your doctor advises you. We are not professionals. So, we can't help you. Take care!

You stayed home and still having problem right? Maybe you should consider the hospitalisation for your own good.

Yes. I still have panic attacks. I do therapy and I take meds. Nothing has changed.

@gaianoor I am scared to go in a psychiatric hospital. I live in a small town and I am afraid I won't be able to take such strong pills. I am really underweight and I have liver problems because of medication that I took home.

Better stay home with Friends and family. listen good music, but if you still feel uneasy then go for hospitalization.

I would run to the Emergency department if my panic attack is so bad it will feel like something is crushing my chest, or is becoming uncontrollable until I feel better. Once I settle down, I would think hard about seeing a psychologist for long term management. When you have attacks, do you try breathing into a bag?

Yes. I tried to breath into a bag. And that made me dizzy.

@dya80dya I see. You only do it for a short moment. Just till your breathing becomes slower and more even. Then you can just try and do deep breathing. I'm not sure. Everyone is different. For severe attacks, I don't think the bag can help. Do you have hesitations in terms of voluntarily admitting yourself? Anything stopping you? Have you seen a counsellor? or psychologist?
