Moving on in my celebration of life, which is my favorite songs with "life" in the title. We are at #9: "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop.
The title track of Iggy Pop's 1977 album, "Lust for Life" was co-written by David Bowie, who composed the music on a ukulele, with the rhythm inspired by the call signal from Armed Forces Network, while Iggy supplied the lyrics.
The song was produced by Bowie, who also played piano and provided backup vocals. In fact, two thirds of Bowie's future Tin Machine project played on the tune. In addition to Bowie, bassist Tony Sales and drummer Hunt Sales appear.
"Lust for Life" was released as a single, but only charted in both Belgium and The Netherlands, hitting #6 and #4 respectively.
The song has been covered numerous times, notably by Motley Crue, Tom Jones with the Pretenders, and The Smithereens. It also serves as the theme song for Jim Rome's sports talk radio show.
I've linked to an energetic live performance.
Enjoy!

And Carnival Cruise Lines, paying no attention whatsoever to the lyrics, used it in their commercials.....

I'll admit, it's one of my favorite Iggy Pop songs too, although "Lust For Life" was the first one of his I heard as a teen.

The godfather of punk. Great song. A KROQ staple in the old days.
