The other music series that I have going is a celebration of life, so why not celebrate the life of British vocalist Robert Palmer (R.I P.) with a countdown of my favorite songs by him? We are at #9: "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley." "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" is the title track from Palmer's 1974 solo debut album (he appeared on three albums as frontman for a band called Vinegar Joe.) The song was written by New Orleans R&B legend Allan Toussaint, and features guitar work from Little Feat guitarist Lowell George. The song was released as a single, but failed to chart. It's a groovy exercise in blues funk, that honestly, would have made a fantastic 70's funk-era song for Stevie Wonder. I've linked to the album version. Enjoy!
