Update on my Husband

In my last post I told you about my husband's surgery to have some growths removed, and how he was bleeding constantly. Some of you have requested an update, so here it is.
The bleeding eventually stopped yesterday (nearly a week later), and we went back to the hospital for our appointment today.
I thought we would be told whether the growths were cancerous or not, but apparently it takes 5/6 weeks to get the results back from the lab, so that didn't happen. We see the consultant on April 10th, so we won't know until then.
To be honest I'm not too worried, as even if the growths were cancerous it's the easiest type of cancer to treat. The surgeon went deep enough anyway, so he thinks he got it all out. My husband has been through this before, and that time they didn't get it all, resulting in a course of radiation.
My main concern now is the wound on his head. He's in some pain from this, and it looked a real mess when they took the dressing off. The skin graft has only partially taken, but the nurse at the hospital didn't seem too worried - she said the skin would regenerate on it's own, it will just take longer.
We have to go back to the hospital in a few days, and the surgeon will be there so we can see him if necessary (we only saw nurses today). In the meantime the District Nurse will continue to come in to check on him.
Thank you all for your concern and good wishes.

Jesus, please help Jabo's husband in every way and keep him well. Thank you Jesus, amen. (you're welcome in advance for prayers.) Hope things get better quickly. Surgery is not easy to live with nor is it easy when it's a loved one going through it...feel so helpless. Take care!

In time your husband will be all better. Luckily, the doctor caught it in time and got rid of the danger. This is a big blessing. Just that if only doctors had a different and less invasive way of stopping cancer would be great. So hang in there for there will come the day all the pain is gone and all the disease is gone too.

It is great your husband is recuperating from his operation. Hope the results you will get from the lab on April 10th suggest that the growths aren't caused by cancer !

Good that the bleeding has stopped and that you have a visiting nurse. I will continue to watch for updates.

I think that the healing process takes longer as we age but I hope your husband recovers quickly. If the nurse wasn't too concerned that's a good sign.
I went to the doctor about my patch on my arm. It is a keratosis and although not cancerous it's best to get it treated so I'm glad I went. If it was exposed to the sun it could become something more sinister. I have some steroid cream to put on twice a day and I think I can see some improvement.
Healing thoughts for your husband.

@jaboUK The cream is already working.and the patch seems flatter. Sending healing thoughts your husband's way.

When the nurse is there, does she put on any pain-relieving cream or gel @jaboUK to the scalp location? Since so many of the nerve-endings are located in the scalp, maybe that would help.

Today is the first time the nurse has changed the dressing on his scalp, as it wasn't necessary to touch that one because of the skin graft. The hospital put a gel pad directly onto his scalp yesterday, and put some padding on top of it. They sent a gel pad home with him in case the District Nurse didn't have one. Good job they did as she didn't, but now she knows she'll bring one with her tomorrow. So that's all good.

Glad all went well Janet but sad you have to wait a few more weeks to find out the results. It sounds like the nurses were not too worried otherwise you would have been fast tracked to see the surgeon. Hope the pain settles soon. Use any analgesia they have recommended for him regularly!

Wow, glad to hear he is doing okay! And glad to hear you are not too worried, which means you are confident the doctors took care of everything correctly. I hope he continues to heal without incident and that the results come back negative on cancer.
