When your tongue beats your brains out.

Have any of you ever heard that expression? My dad used to say that whenever my mom or my sister or I would cook something he really liked. Whenever he'd say, "That was so good my tongue beat my brains out", we knew he really loved it. The picture is a dessert called a Strawberry Napoleon, which a lot of have probably heard of. For my birthday last week my dad thought I'd like something the equivalent of a birthday cake, so he took me to a pastry shop, and I picked a piece of a Strawberry Napoleon. It was absolutely delicious. Yes, it was so good my tongue beat my brains out. Seeing as I haven't had a large quantity of sugar in months it was a special treat.

I've never heard this expression. I've already studied something new today (however it is just Monday morning). The Strawberry Napoleon looks really great!

It's actually not a cake, but it kind of looks like it, doesn't it? It's made with a pastry crust, which is kind of crispy and flaky.

Strawberry Napoleon is good, but the pastry in the photo looks even better, because it seems made with sponge cake instead of puff pastry.

It does look like that now that you mention it. But it was made with the puff pastry. I wonder if it would have been even better your way.

@AmbiePam I prefer this version, I think it is more a "Strawberry Shortcake" than a Napoleon.
