Last night's Oscars - tanked ratings and so boring ....

I wasn't going to watch the Oscars last night. I have an intense dislike for anything Hollywood. But curiosity got the best of me and I did watch a few hours, eventually falling asleep both from boredom and not giving a hoot who or what won. One thing for sure - repeat host Jimmy Kimmel is about as funny as a broken hip and as entertaining as a pet rock, but he is very political, wants his personal opinions heard, and that's what most Hollywood entertainment is about these days. Admittedly, there were some super creative, brilliant nominees awarded some obscure Oscars, but most of the focus was on politics and less on their noble accomplishments. I was happy to hear that the ratings for the Oscars continue to tank, possibly hitting a new low last night. They are way too long, incredibly boring, full of politics and pomposity, and awarding movies many of us have never even heard of. Image: Pixabay.com

@LindaCPearson There is so much time difference that I never stayed up until early morning to see the Oscars.

I'm happy to hear that their ratings are continuing to dive. These people need to remember that we don't watch them for their politics, but for their ability to act and entertain. I never go see a movie for who is acting in it. I go for the movie's story. That, and I know none of the movies that are winning these days. They don't reward the mainstream, fan favorites any more.

You are right. Hollywood doesn't seem to care all that much about the average movie fan anymore and has become a very close-minded, exclusive club.

@LindaCPearson And because of that reason, more and more people are ignoring them. Yet they seem to not care.

Yeah, I haven't watched the Oscars for years @LindaCPearson for those same reasons. And I just knew it was going to be crappy this time.

I think I need to revise my list! I wasn't going to watch them. Hopefully, next year I'll be stronger!
