I can't write for a month!

Thankfully I can use voice recognition!
I went to the doctor and the decision was to send me for an MRI scan which I have on Sunday. Meanwhile, I'm signed off as unable to work for a month, which is very frustrating given I'm a writer and work for myself. It has become almost impossible to type for any length of time using my left arm and hand and the physio has discovered it's very weak.
I do wonder if there are any other people on myLot who are using voice recognition software?
I've spoken about a few of my experiences with voice recognition, over the time I've been on myLot. I'm also very interested in what helps people with one hand because my dad has been one-handed for most of his life.
With Grammarly installed and the voice recognition add-on for Chromium which is the base for Google Chrome. (Linux users will understand this.) I am doing quite well. It isn't perfect, but I am so grateful to have something that works to a some extent.
I thought I'd share it in case it's helpful for anyone else. You download it from the Google Chrome store.

Was there any particular reason why you tried it or was it just an experiment? I do think it comes in useful for anybody at times.

The program I have on my tablet and phone are pretty good most days.
There are days when it's doesn't seem to work correctly at all for me. This was written with my automatic program that came installed on the phone. Using this everything has to be double-checked.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. I learnt piano for years and when it came to typing all my fingers were strong whereas some who were starting out had very weak little fingers. I often make myself do things left-handed just in case I ever injure my right hand.

I tested some voice recognition software out a couple of years ago for a survey company, it was mostly good but I found it frustrating having to go back and edit the multiple words they all (regardless of brand) seemed to mishear - things have probably gotten better though even in just the past two years, it's something I'd think about if I needed to

One of my most frustrating things is that they all seem to miss , and. Now this one has just put them right just to disprove me1 I do seem to have to go back and correct quite a lot and I find that sometimes when I've posted I have to edit because suddenly what I thought was ok wasn't. I wouldn't mind taking part in a survey like that because I do think that it is of great relevance to many people. My father is almost paraplegic and he hasn't had the use of one hand for many many years so I've always been interested in what helps the one-handed. Having my own experience of it is making me realise how many difficulties you do face because I'm finding that although I'm technically not using my left hand it is often in use because I can't do certain things without it. Of course, I have that choice because the hand will still do things and it's more a case of it aching when it does.
