We got empty cassette tapes and a radio that has tape recorder that no longer works.

@ridingbet mother likes small transistor radios because she can listen to them when wakes up but don't feel like getting up yet.

@hereandthere i do. even the small stereo-transistor type given to me by my brother in 1988, i still have it in my room.

It's good recalling the past gadgets we used sometimes. "Torn" is what I'll remember in Nat King Cole

My parents still have that old stereo system with wood . . . is it literally a big piece of furniture (almost like a coffin)? The stereo is actually still good, except for the record player part - but no one uses it and I don't know why my parents keep it around. It makes a good table at the side of their living room .

i don't know what happened to ours, but yes, the stereo system was 3 pieces - one long piece in the middle that you lift the lid, and two speakers on each side.

@hereandthere My parents' stereo is just one big piece . . . the stereo on both sides and there was a lid in the middle to lift (like a coffin).

and the question would be, would they play, and if you have a working tape deck. i mean, it might be in good condition, but the tape deck would eat it! hahaha!

I had also seen my father packed his collection of old cassette tapes a few days ago in a plastic bag. I am not sure what he's going to do with those...

My ten year old daughter found a tape at my mum's house a couple of weeks ago and she didn't know what it was!

Your post reminded to see if I still have those old cassette tapes in our storage area. Though I think of having it for future need (as memento), sometimes they have to go to declutter and have some space.
