Can I Balance Two Jobs ?

For the last couple of month I started to save money for a sporty car. Today, my accountant told me that I’m not saving enough and suggested that I find a second job if I want to make extra cash. I already work from 8 to 13 and use my evenings to write my first novel. Is it possible to balance two jobs without losing my mind ?

I hope your first novel will make enough for you to survive upon. How is the writing going?

@houda28 When I lose the inspiration to write, I know I have stopped learning from others. I pick up books by other writers and start reading as a learning exercise. I hope it helps you.

Very bad actually. Currently suffering from writer's block. I lost my inspiration and don't know how to get it back.

@mydanods That's what I'm doing right now. I already re-read The alchemist and finshed the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.

If you want that car bad enough, you can do it.

Wise words. 'If there's a will, there's a way'.

@houda28 What if there's a will and your health says no way?

Only you know if you could handle it and if you really think it would be worth it for a sporty car.

Yes it's worth it. That's why I should and will handle it. I'll keep posted when I find a second job.

I guess it just depends on what the payoff is. If you want a sporty car then you have to make the sacrifice. Good luck.

I think you can if you want to buy that car as soon as possible.

It depends on the jobs and the responsibilities. I have done it. I have also worked sixty hour weeks at one job. The thing is, it never seems to make me any richer, just more dissatisfied and ultimately, it ruined my health.

There are people who manage working two jobs. It’s definitely worth a try, especially if you want that car.

Houda, being able to handle two jobs is different for everyone. Some people can handle working two jobs while others can't. How many hours per week total with two jobs do you think you can handle, Houda?

I don't think I can survive more than 7 hours per day

It would depend on the hours but it seems already your time is totally taken up. And do you spend a long time travelling to work too..that may make it difficult to do 2 jobs.

As you have a part time job, I think it is possible to get another half time job and to find the balance. But you can also make money with your novel.

Thanks for the advice but with my writer's block my novel will take at least another five years to finish it.
