I don't think people realize how frequently they misuse words. Perfect example: When I was a young lad, I more than often got my a** beat repeatedly, with my parents making the claim that I don't listen, and I always was confused because I considered myself a great listener, but again and again my rear end had unpleasant meetings with leather straps and each time after, when my parents told me something, I made sure that I listened closely and attentively, but the outcome was always the same. But you see, I was mislead into believing I had a problem "listening", when in actuality, the issue was that I had a problem "obeying", smh. This error caused me so much pain and suffering that could have been avoided.

It is easier to listen than to obey.

lol, I always thought so! I still have a problem obeying authority, so the whippings did nothing

I agree with you. Parents sometimes don't know what they do. Words are frequently misused. This happened to me.
