The first thing you have to do is find an ideal ripple wallet, search " best ripple wallets" in my case, I chose an app called toast wallet. Make sure that your wallet of choice is legit, save the keys and pass phrases incase you need to recreate the wallet in another device.
I presume that you already have basic knowledge on bitcoins and other altcoins, if not you must learn it first.
So to continue, once your wallet is set up, you can now get ripples by exchanging your bitcoins, ethereum or whatever altcoims you have in an exchange site, in my case I used changelly to get xrp
Always remember to initially fund your wallet with atleast 20xrp, (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) or more otherwise your wallet will not be activated and your xrp will get lost, the 20 xrp in every wallet is a must, it's to keep the price of xrp tokens stable since ripple keeps a number of coins in escrow.
I made a modest amount in xrp since it was bought when it was dirt cheap. Ripples is a good choice since a lot of banks are either testing it or had adopted it.
Good luck investing and just feel free to ask anything and will answer if I can. Another important thing is do your own research.

@yugocean that is true but if you are new to cryptos and do not have really much to protect then a good starter would be an app wallet over a hot wallet. No you would not want to throw in a hundred dollars or more on a hardware wallet when there is nothing else yet to protect, money could be put in better use as seed investment.
Transfer to a hardware wallet could be done later if you are as practical as me.

@louievill Good idea, but such transfer (from app wallet to Hardware wallet) also attract fees?

I had used toast wallet app with no problem for quite sometime with no problema, not unless you hold a sizeable amount of xrp worth the time of the hackers then get nano ledger but the topic is about starting

Coins.ph will have ripple soon
But I prefer Bitcoin Cash because it has a higher long-term earning potential than the rest.
If you want to invest you must buy TREZOR or LEDGER NANO S first. It is now available at Lazada. Then just cash IN at Coins.ph. Most traders buy/sell ALTCOINS thru Bittrex.com but I only used Poloniex since 2016. But I haven't checked Poloniex after it was acquired by Circle. I used Binance recently because it is the only mobile-friendly exchange with app. I am always on mobile. DO NOT keep big amount of CryptoCurrency online.

I have no idea about this, but reading the comments below gave me an idea. I might try this also. I never try Btcoin either. Do you think it is a good investment to join?
