In-And-Out Burger, Ahem, ER

Did you miss me? Didn’t think so. . I was planning on spending my final hours of “slow time” enjoying the evening with my favorite people, cats, and LEGO figures here on myLot. Alas, it was not to be. A pain that has been increasing in severity over the past week finally said, “Hey, get to the emergency room!” So, I did. I yell about the VA a lot, if you haven’t noticed. Yet I’ll give them their kudos when they’re due. Last night, kudos were definitely due. I signed in at about 7 PM. I was triaged, siphoned for blood and urine (they were checking for kidney stones, it’s that kind of pain), IV’d, MRI’d, diagnosed, medicated, and released in about two and a half hours. In-and-Out Burger? No, this was the in-and-out emergency room! The pain is located in an “emergency” area (where an aortic aneurysm can be), so this kind of pain is a “priority.” And, wow, did they treat it like one! So I’m back, a little backed up (I see an REM post in music, gotta get to that quickly!!), but none the worse for wear. No real answer about the pain, except most likely a diverticulosis flare-up. Way to go, VA hospital!! We now return you to our regular lunacy. This has nothing to do with a hospital, other than the title. For you music trivia buffs (all three of you ), there are two Hall of Famers playing on this song: Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads on keyboards, and David Robinson of the Cars on drums.

The final diagnosis? They discovered that music does indeed flow in your veins.

@JohnRoberts -- there's a meme on Facebook that says "My brain is 80% song lyrics." THAT is a low percentage.

Sorry you've been laid low but it's good that the care you received was so thorough.

I am soooo far behind. I hope everything is OK. I have to say that the VA was very good to me while I was in there. Thanks for the Modern Lovers!

Fine. I told a friend on Facebook that, to paraphrase that Vern Gosdin song, this ain't my first rodeo with diverticulosis. It was just hurting in my back as well, but that could be my bad back. My mother of blessed memory made me a hypochondriac, and I occasionally get three or four body parts that gang up and say, "Hey, let's scare the crap out of her!" Thank you for your concern.

@Hannihar -- ah, it is what it is. I don't know who was more frightened sometimes, my mother or me. (Especially the first time I had abdominal pain.) She ended up on Lorazipam to calm her nerves while I went out of town to play golf. She really was a worrywart, and it got worse the older she got.

I am glad you got to the ER right away. Sorry they do not know for sure what it is, only what it is not, but that is good as well.
