American Idol returns tonight - will you be watching?

I will. Other than missing a few shows way back when Idol first began, I faithfully watched every season, although my enthusiasm did wane over the years. My favorite idols remain David Cook with Adam Lambert as a close second. In the beginning, with Simon Cowell as the nasty but usually spot-on judge, it was a great show. Eventually, Cowell left and the only other judge I ever really liked was Harry Connick, Jr. The show had lost its star power, had some (in my opinion) very boring contestants and some very self-absorbed judges - Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey come to mind. I will be checking out Idol's reincarnation tonight. I am neutral about the judges. They are critical to the show's success so I hope they're up to the task. I'm hoping the contestants prove more talented and interesting than those of the last several years. I also wonder how returning host Ryan Seacrest will fare, with those alleged sexual harassment claims going on. Image: Pixabay.com
