American Idol – Monday night update

I watched American Idol again Monday night. I found the quality of the contestants a bit more promising than Sunday night’s debut, like the girl with the pretty blue eyes seeking a career in singing rather than going into the family business. I also thought several of the male contestants, I can’t remember their names, showed definite promise. Now, if they could do something about the judges, I’d be happier. I’m still trying to figure out if the focus of the show is on the contestants or on Katy Perry. I guess with the big bucks they're paying her, we’ll being seeing a lot of Katy Perry this season. Sunday night Perry planted a kiss on an innocent, never-before-kissed young guy, sort of a princess kisses frog thing. Monday night she danced around the stage while a contestant was performing, fell on the floor, apparently revealed more body parts than she should have, got Luke Bryan all flustered, made goo goo eyes at several of the male contestants, and made a fool of herself coming on to one of them while his significant other watched from the wings. Somehow, Lionel Richie managed to maintain his dignity throughout all this. The judges are as crucial to the show’s success as are the contestants. As the show improves, let’s hope the judges improve as well. Enough of the kissing, revealing body parts, the self-absorption and the stupid stuff. Please. Image: Pixabay.com

I enjoyed it. It was fun. Fun and music go together. It seemed that they focused more on having fun then making us laugh at the contestants because they think they can sing when a frog would have beaten them in any contest hands down.

Maybe you're right and I'm just being too judgmental and crabby. I'll try to be more open-minded!

@LindaCPearson I'm just amazed at the talent and drive that some people have. The girl whose family is the furniture business sang in such a way that it massaged my heart. I found it!

Didn't they have 4 judges before?
